Ana Tanaka

Ana's passion for materials science and travel merged when she spent a semester abroad in Kyoto studying traditional Japanese building techniques, forever changing how she viewed the built environment. After completing her PhD in materials engineering, she began documenting how different cultures solve similar architectural challenges, initially as personal research that evolved into her popular blog. Now she travels with her architect husband and their 6-year-old daughter, who has already developed an impressive vocabulary of architectural terms and can spot a well-designed boutique hotel from blocks away.
