Jessica Anderson

Jessica pivoted from traditional academic anthropology to public scholarship after witnessing the rapid disappearance of glaciers and associated cultural practices during her doctoral research in Peru. When her Spanish husband received a teaching position in Madrid fifteen years ago, she established it as her base while continuing field expeditions, bringing their daughter (now in university) along until she was old enough to choose her own path. Jessica's blog began as field notes for students but evolved into an award-winning platform bridging indigenous knowledge and climate science when her photographs of Andean glacier retreat went viral in scientific communities.
