Lisa's passion for travel was sparked during childhood camping trips to national parks with her biologist father and genealogist mother, where she developed twin interests in biodiversity and family heritage. After completing her PhD studying climate change impacts on alpine ecosystems, she moved to Halifax for a research position but negotiated flexible field work periods that allow her to combine scientific data collection with her travel blog, creating content that bridges the gap between academic research and accessible travel narratives.
