Maya West

Born to an Irish mother and Nigerian father in Dublin, Maya developed a fascination with plants through her grandmother's garden before her family relocated to Texas when she was 14. During a gap year before college, she worked at a botanical garden in Alaska where she unexpectedly connected with local hunters who taught her about subsistence living, forever changing her perspective on wilderness and conservation. Now studying Botany and Environmental Science at the University of Texas, she funds her education through her growing social media presence that uniquely bridges the worlds of plant science, traditional hunting practices, and sustainable travel.
