Carter McDonald

Carter McDonald

Carter's journey began when he moved to South Korea for what was supposed to be a one-year teaching position after college but fell in love with both the country and his now-wife, a Korean jazz pianist. His unique perspective as a mixed-race American living in Asia, combined with his childhood spent helping at his parents' veterinary clinic in diverse Los Angeles neighborhoods, shaped his appreciation for how design and music transcend cultural boundaries while still honoring local traditions. After establishing himself in Busan and starting a family, Carter began documenting his explorations of architectural spaces and music venues as a way to connect his children to both sides of their heritage, inadvertently building a following attracted to his thoughtful observations on how physical spaces influence cultural experiences.
