Growing up in a border town with a civil engineer father and artist mother, Elizabeth developed a unique perspective on how structures shape cultural identity. After completing her Master's thesis on indigenous construction techniques in the American Southwest, she began documenting disappearing architectural practices worldwide, using her engineering expertise to explain the brilliance of traditional building methods while connecting with local craftspeople who maintain these traditions.
