Peter Murphy

Born to a British father and Japanese mother in Yokohama, Peter grew up straddling two culinary traditions before training as a pastry chef in London. After burning out in high-end restaurant kitchens, he discovered a new passion when he spent six months traveling across Japan by rail, documenting family-run ryokans and their breakfast traditions. This journey reconnected him with his heritage and launched his unique travel perspective that combines his professional culinary eye with a backpacker's spirit and budget.
